The Barony of Bryn Madoc Presents Dreamstone Tourney 31, April 16-18, 2010

Camp Daniel Morgan at Hard Labor Creek State Park,
Knox Chapel Road, Rutledge, GA 30663

ACTIVITIES

Please join us on April 16-18, 2010 for Dreamstone 31, a day of tournaments and fun, culminating in the investiture of our new Baron and Baroness.

FIGHTING! There will be multiple lists on Saturday, including the Dreamstone Tournament, the Baron's Prize List, the Baronesses' Choice Historical Tournament, and the Glory of MARS Tourney.

Dreamstone Tournament
Bryn Madoc's premiere tourney, standard double elimination.

Baron's Prize List
Single elimination Bridesmaids tourney; to enter you must not have won a tournament previously.

Baronesses' Historical Tournament
The Baronesses are calling for all armored, rapier, and C&T fighters to participate in the Baronnesses' Choice Historical Tournament. Come show off your armor, weapons, accoutrements, and period fighting style. Each fighter will get multiple passes against an opponent with comparable weapons, where they will be judged for their appearance and period form along with the results of the fight. The Grand Prize will be a gift certificate to a merchant of historical SCA items.

Glory of MARS Tourney
The University of Georgia Medieval and Renaissance Society (MARS) group is hosting a mixed-weapon, alternating weapon styles, bear pit tourney. Just as the name says, each round you must use a different weapon form. So bring your odd weapons — we will be playing with them.

ARTS & SCIENCES! Iron Scribe Contest: Do you think you can be Dreamstone's Iron Scribe? Come put your illumination talents to the test — we want to see just what work you can create in 5 hours! The rules are as follows:
bullet blank space All works must be original

bullet blank space Scribes may start on their works no sooner than Saturday, April 17th at 10:00 a.m. and they must be turned in for judging at 3:00 p.m.
bullet blank space Works may contain illumination and calligraphy, but will be judged on the illumination.
bullet blank space There will be 3 divisions: Children (may be divided in 2 age groups if entries warrent), Beginners (open to those who have never created an original scribal work before), and Masters (open to anyone). There will be awards given to the winners of each division!

FEASTING! Enjoy sumptuous delights for the palate.

FESTIVITIES! Celebrate the succession of the Baronage, the battles won and lost, or just another day of good company. No matter why you celebrate, please do so with us!

Camp Daniel Morgan has 76 beds in cabins; tent camping is not available on site (but is available elsewhere in the park). A few cottages are also available for rent through the park. For more information on tenting and cottages, call 1-800-864-7275 or go to the Georgia State Parks system's website.*

The event site opens at 5 p.m. Eastern time on Friday and closes at 11 a.m. on Sunday. No pets allowed in the group camp area. Georgia State Parks' policy states that “consumption or use of alcoholic beverages or intoxicants is unlawful in any public-use area.”

Directions: From I-20, take the Newborn Rd. exit (exit no. 105) into Rutledge and take Fairplay Road to the park. The entrance to Camp Daniel Morgan is on the right at the intersection with Knox Chapel Rd., before you get to the stone bridge.
